New Release: You Get What You Give by Demi Michelle, pt. 1

Heartfelt, charismatic, and authentic are three words used to describe Demi Michelle’s music. The Pittsburgh-based pop and country songwriter turns her life experiences into songs that touch the hearts of her listeners through captivating storytelling in her lyrics and memorable melodies.

Demi kicked off her songwriting journey in 2019. After releasing several singles, she delivered her debut album ‘Dear Diary’ in October 2021. The sun set on ‘Dear Diary’, but that means a new dawn is coming very soon. Her new song ‘You Get What You Give’ which will be the lead single of her upcoming EP, will be out May 20th. Whoever pre-saves gets to watch the studio vlog before release day.

“My new release is definitely autobiographical. All of my songs are based on personal experiences, thoughts, and feelings, and this song is no different.”

“It was inspired by situations where I felt like I was giving much more than I was receiving. I consider myself to be a selfless person, but some situations got to the point where I felt like my kindness was being taken advantage of. Feeling used and underappreciated is never fun, and in the past, I allowed myself to feel this way and didn’t do anything about it.”

“I’ve realized that these situations have left me feeling down, so I’m finally making a change. No one should settle for less than they deserve. Since realizing this, I’ve been much happier. I hope this song empowers others to recognize they deserve nothing less than love, respect, and appreciation.”

“This song is very different from the songs I’ve released in the past. ‘You Get What You Give’ is fiery, bold, and sassy. It definitely shows a different side of me, and I’m excited for that.”

“As I grow as a person, I grow as a songwriter. Because my songs are like diary entries from my life, my experiences shape the songs that I write. I love being able to explore different messages and topics in my songs that are important to me, and the message of this song is one that has become extremely real to me lately.”

“The title of the song, ‘You Get What You Give’, speaks for itself, and the title of the EP it will be on ‘It Is What It Is’, does as well. I feel like I’m much more direct in my upcoming music, rather than being more reflective and introspective, and it’s been fun writing all of the songs on the EP.”

Tomorrow you can read more about Demi’s upcoming EP and her artwork for the single.
