New Release – Kiss me on a Friday Night by Laura Jayne

Laura Jayne is a new singer/songwriter from the North East of England. Her first release was a collaboration with Sean Buckley aka Mintball. Her first original solo release is called ‘Kiss me on a Friday Night’ and will be out April 22nd. A pre-save is available here.

“I’ve always had a passion for music, wiring my first songs with my friend Rhian when we were probably about 8 or 9. Yoda Skoda was always a big hit at the talent contest at school (laughs). One day I might record it, joke!”

“It was just before lock down that I rediscovered my love for songwriting, I started to learn the guitar and unlocked my love all over again.”

“The song is about the excitement of a new connection, of when two people just feel that spark, that draw towards each other. How one look can melt your heart and make you smile every time you think of it. It’s about getting lost in the moment and forgetting the whole world around you, feeling safe and special, even if it is only for just one night.”

“The lyrics have a special meaning, they are based on a true story! Lyrics just tend to spill when you have a muse to think about, but I think that they are very relatable. I think at some point or another we have all been there. That being said I wanted the song to be fun, I wanted people to feel the excitement of the moment, the lust, the draw and the passion behind it.”

“This is my first original solo release, so this is a big deal for me. James Henderson who produced this for me always has a way of making me work harder for what I want. I tend to write the songs with a melody, am not the best at guitar so find it difficult but he always pushes me to be my best. I say I can’t, he says yes you can!! so I get mad and I do!”

“I did him a VERY basic version on drums and guitar, with an explanation of how I wanted it to sound and then he makes the magic happen. It was just spot on…. And have you heard that guitar solo oooffff!!!! I have a lot to thank James for, not only for his musical brilliance and TRYING to teach me guitar, but for his encouragement, support and always telling me if stuff really is just shit! But most importantly, when it really works.”

“I am excited, scared, worried and just desperate for everyone to listen and hear their opinions good or bad.”
