New Release – That Girl is Perfect by Sofia Nunzia

Sofia Nunzia is a 15-year-old singer-songwriter who wrote her first complete song when she was in elementary school. She lived in the Raleigh area of North Carolina for most of her life before relocating to New England. Unique among teen singer-songwriters, her music style can best be classified as “nostalgia country music”, with influences from 1990s country music and classic Motown. A boarding school student on a full academic scholarship, Sofia plans to pursue both music and science, with plans for a future career as a “singer-scientist”.

Sofia’s new song ‘That Girl is Perfect’ will be out 7th January. A Spotify presave link is available here. Links to the song on all major platforms will be available here on the release date.

What inspired you to write the song?

“One of my friends is beautiful and has a lot going for her. A lot of guys were interested in her – but not the one she was interested in. She really let it upset her, and it took her a while to understand that, if he couldn’t see how amazing she was, it was his loss. After seeing what she went through, I decided to write a song about it. The song tells the story of a girl who is feeling very down on herself because her crush is brushing her off. She is finally seeing her own worth, and she is ready to give up on him and move on.”

Where was it recorded and mixed?

“‘That Girl is Perfect’ was recorded and mixed in Nashville, Tennessee at Little Richardson Studio. The producer and guitarist is Adam Ollendorff. He is an expert pedal steel guitar player who toured with Kacey Musgraves, and I love the steel guitar sound on this track. Tim Lauer, who is the song producer for Big Sky on ABC and has played on hundreds of records for artists such as Taylor Swift, Martina McBride, and Dolly Parton, played keyboards for the song. Drums were recorded by Fred Eltringham, 2018 Academy of Country Music (ACM) Drummer of the Year and longstanding drummer for Sheryl Crow. The song also features the talented Adam Keafer on bass and phenomenal Kristen Rogers on background vocals. I was really fortunate that Adam brought together such a great team of music industry veterans that I could not only record with, but also learn from throughout the process.”

What are you hoping to achieve with this release?

“A lot of women and girls struggle with low self-esteem, and I am hoping ‘That Girl is Perfect’ inspires them to realize they are perfect the way they are, and that what someone else thinks does not change that. The song has a combination of a 90s country and old school Motown vibe that crosses country and pop genres, but I wouldn’t necessarily call it pop country music, so I am also hoping to push the boundaries of country and pop music with this new release.”
