“After playing in bands and earning a living on the club circuit in the late 90’s early 2000’s, I started to write and record my own songs in 2019 for the first time in over 25 years. I now split my music between 2 producers in Lincolnshire and leeds and this gives me the ability to experiment with my songwriting.”
What does the EP title reveal?
“Hopefully, it tells the listener that I’m prepared to move out of my comfort zone and experiment with different sounds and styles within my music.”
Where was it recorded and mixed?
“Unlike my previous releases, I worked with a different producer for this EP and the recording was done at my home studio set up and also in the producers’ studio and all songs were mastered and final mixed at my producers studio. Alan Croft produced and mixed this EP.”
Is there a story behind the artwork? Did you make it yourself?
“Yeah, I took a very tired looking selfie after I had just got in from my early morning 6 am walk with one of my dogs, a Romanian rescue called Hooper who is the apple of my eye. Even my sons are convinced he comes first, and they, along with their mum, are right, he does. I’d brought this kind of army weather resistant hat, and my partner said I looked like Badly Drawn Boy in it and I thought that’s good enough for me, but even though it’s a camouflaged hat, I needed to camouflage my face even more hence the spectrum colours as I’m not a fan of my face on any of my covers, my age is becoming more and more in every pic I have taken.”
Shaun also hosts his own online radio show.
“It goes out 3 times a week on 3 different stations and its called Chuckas Indie Playlist Show and to be honest I love doing that almost as much as creating my own music.”
