New Release – Once Upon A Rhyme (album) by Chris Ahlman

Chris Ahlman is a professional singer/songwriter currently living in the San Francisco Bay Area. He keeps busy typically logging more than 100 shows per year. Chris’ Americana sound reminds the listener of a cross between John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Neil Young, Dave Matthews, and Bob Dylan, to name a few.

His new album, a true labor of love, follows up the release last month of the single and title track ‘Once Upon A Rhyme’. The album will be released on 24th July.

“My co-producer, Grammy winner Cliff Goldmacher, brought in some of the best studio musicians from Nashville to play on the album. Kerry Marx, who used to play in Johnny Cash’s Band and currently serves as music director for the Grand Ole Opry, also a Grammy winner, played electric guitar on the entire record, which was amazing.”

“One of my favorite memories during the recording process was after we finished laying down my acoustic guitar and vocals for the song ‘I Once Had A Girl’. Cliff says to me, “how would you feel about getting James Taylor’s fiddle player to play on this song?” I was like, “are you kidding me!?” It was moments like that that made the recording process really fun and I would say amazing at times.”

“I consider this to be one of the greatest accomplishments in my professional career. Working with all the amazing and talented musicians to create really good music that people can listen to and appreciate is priceless for me. I love good music and I love to create good music.”

“The album has many layers, from cello on a couple of the tracks to a really cool duet called ‘To Find Me’, each song is a small musical story that inspires and instills a sense of beauty, strength, and rhythm at its core.”

“The twelve song album was recorded half in Sonoma, California, and half in Nashville, Tennessee. It was mixed and co-produced by Cliff Goldmacher. Cliff also owns the studios where we did this record. It was mastered by Jim DeMain at Yes Master Studios.”
