New Release – Borrowed Time by Dean Dovey

Dean Dovey is a singer/songwriter from the UK’s second city Birmingham. He didn’t pick up a guitar until his early 30’s but was full of inspiration from Noel Gallagher, Richard Ashcroft, Tom Petty and The Doors to name a few. Dean creates symphonic anthems for the soul and mind.

A new song ‘Borrowed Time’ will be out on 16th July. A pre-save is available here.

“It’s a song about life and death, about seizing the moment and taking control of what you can control and letting go of all the stuff you can’t control. ‘Borrowed Time’ can sound like a gloomy title for a song but if you listen deeply there is a lot of positivity in there. Live for the moment!”

“The song is part of a batch of songs I first ever wrote about 9 years ago. It’s always been in any set when I’ve played live, but just never found the right moment to record it. When recording I feel everything has to fall into place to get it to how you want it to sound. It’s taken a hell of a long time, but it’s finally done and I couldn’t be more happy with it. I’ve gained a lot of recording experience over the years and this song has really benefited from that.”

“At the time of writing there was a Rihanna song out called ‘Diamonds’ and I think somehow some of its chord progressions and the feel of that song got into my head. I didn’t even notice until after I’d written it how similar the chord progression was, but I remember that song seemed to be on the radio all the time. As for the lyrics, well at that time there had been some loss in the family and I was about to make a big decision to leave or stay at my place of work for another opportunity. For me at that time it was a massive call and I’m glad to say I did it and I’ve never looked back. No regrets!”
