Sophie Dorsten is an indie/pop singer-songwriter born and raised in the Phoenix, Arizona, area. She has been singing her strong, dynamic sound around the Valley and beyond since she was 9 years old.
Some of her musical influences are From Indian Lakes – an indie band from California with a chill sound that she loves, as well as Eleni Drake and Adele – who was her childhood idol and who she modeled her powerful vocals after. Sophie dreams of following in the footsteps of these amazing artists.
Sophie has been releasing EP’s and singles since she was 13. She is now working with her brother Alex – they released ‘Babydoll‘ and ‘Sea Salt‘ in 2020 and this year have songs lined up to release each month for the rest of the year starting with the release of ‘Until June‘ on May 28.
“This song is about doubt and how it tries to stop us from doing what we want and makes us question ourselves. The “YOU” in the song is doubt.”
“When you’re in this state of being by yourself you might lose your confidence and doubt may creep in.”
“My brother Alex and I created the song – I wrote the lyrics and he played all the instruments and produced it! We had so much fun working on it! We did it in his room – lol!
“We also had Mark Needham mix it – he mixes some pretty big names in music so we were honored to have him a part of this song! We are working with a team including my parents, Warren Wyatt with WorldSound – and he talks directly with Ingrooves/Universal Music Group. It’s so cool to have a direct link to UMG – excited for all they are doing to help push my music!”
