KOJI will be releasing a single for the first time in a year on 29 January. This is the first release with mainly Japanese lyrics. Another song with English lyrics will be released in February. KOJI had big plans for 2021, but since most events are cancelled or postponed, he’s taking the time to write new music.
The new single features Kao, a Japanese singer-songwriter on acoustic guitar. Kao writes ” 花桜 ” in Japanese. The song is very personal to KOJI.
“The song is about a girl I met at a mental hospital where we were hospitalised. The story is part fiction. I’ve been suffering from a mental illness for a long time.”
“I wrote the song in my apartment. I also recorded it at home, using an old multi track recorder, not a DAW thing.”
