New Release – No Fools No Fun (album) by Andre Pettipas and the Giants

Andre Pettipas and The Giants are a Canadian rock band from Antigonish, Nova Scotia. The band was formed in 2015 by brothers Andre and Travis Pettipas after adding drummer Mark Cosh to the lineup.

Andre Pettipas and the Giants are set to release their new album ‘No Fools No Fun’ on July 9th via all streaming platforms. The 13-track album captures the no holds barred, kick-ass ethic the band brings to everything they do, and like never before. You can pre-save the album here.

The album will also include the most recently released single ‘Homesick‘, giving a major nod to late eighties and early nineties rock featuring Christopher Thorn the guitarist of critically acclaimed, chart topping, southern psych-rock band Blind Melon.

“’No Fools No Fun’ was recorded at the beautiful Chalet Recording Studio in Uxbridge, Ontario. The studio has an amazing setting in the Country where you can really rid all distractions and focus on recording. It has sleeping arrangements, a swimming pool and an amazing backyard that is nature filled; we woke up with deer and rabbits in the yard almost on the daily. It was mixed and produced by Brian Moncarz (Alice Cooper, Our Lady Peace, The Tea Party) at Chalet and Happy Hipi studios in Toronto.”

“I think my favourite memory of the whole recording process was recording the album live off the floor; getting the core of the tracks recorded all at once which really gave the album a genuine feel. It’s always a task trying to recreate that “live” sound. We felt that we captured this on the album and that is an incredible feeling. The vibe in the room was amazing. Bands like Rush and The Barenaked Ladies have done work in that studio so that really helps you feel some great energy throughout the recording process. Working with Brian was awesome. Not only does he provide a great positive atmosphere while recording but his advice and music sensibility is top notch. The owners Dave and Sheila were fantastic too. We spent evenings sharing stories with them followed by checking out the local venues and exploring what the town of Uxbridge had to offer.”

“The album cover shows the Giants (in Giant form) about to light a helpless Andre in a straight-jacket on fire. I wanted to create an memorable album cover that people would look at multiple times and wonder why. We wanted to show our fun, mischievous side right from the get-go on the cover of the album. I took inspiration visually from INXS Kick and from Alice Cooper’s usage of straight jackets. When I was 16 years old I worked at a gas station and a customer named “Ziggy” used to tell me stories from when he lived in California and delivered groceries to Alice Cooper. I was always fascinated with Cooper’s music and his artistic direction. All these years later coincidentally after the album art was finished our producer worked on Cooper’s latest record with Bob Ezrin so we had a full circle moment with this album.”

“On the inside of the album art it shows an image of me with sleeves cut off of the straight jackets and the Giants helping me do that – we had a social media photo tease leading up to the announcement of the album release that showcased this. We use the term “Sleeves Gone Party On” so with the arms off the straight jacket symbolizes the world opening back up for live performances we don’t feel confined to our four walls anymore and we’re ready to showcase a whole lot of fun with this record.”
